My Top 5 Location Discoveries of 2015

2015 has been all about new things…new blog, new opportunities, and amazing new discoveries. It was definitely a year blessed with health, adventure, and everything else that today makes me feel grateful and fulfilled.

I want to take a sentence right here on this post to be thankful for being able to have a plate full of options and possibilities, and most importantly to have the support from family and friends, and the strength to be able to choose wisely and not let any chance go to waste.

This year has been kind of awesome. I got to see wonderful landscapes, climb imponent mountains, sail across rivers and oceans, and got to translate all that into a deeper understanding of not only myself but all that is and makes each and every culture so interesting and special.

For this reason and on the midst of what I pray is a wonderful, fun and adventurous new year, I list the top 5 locations I got to discover in 2015. Those places that are not yet flooded with tourists but that have impressed my eyes and soul out.

This are my top 5 discoveries of the year…

5. Rheinfall in Neuhausen, Switzerland

This is the largest plain waterfall in Europe. There’s just something about the loud sound of water falling and the breeze that’s so exciting, and look at that rainbow!

4. Downton Abbey / Highclere Castle in Newbury, England

Downton Abbey Visiting Downton Abbey was something else! I was sure I was going to love it, considering I’m an absolute fan of the series, but actually being there was the highlight of my entire trip! I got to explore the castle and the lovely and vast gardens. I sure felt like a Crawley for the day!

3. Medieval City Amboise in The Loire Valley of France

This medieval city truly stole my heart. No ifs, ands or buts. It’s so charming it feels like living inside of a fairytale. With the Loire Castles, bridges, cute rooftops, thin streets and lovely views to go with it you’ll never want to leave.

 2. City of Kitzbühel in Tirol, Austria

Kitzbühel is colourful, friendly and charming. It’s an Austrian Ski destination on winter, but it’s definitely eye candy on summers as well. One of my favourite discoveries this year!

 1. Klewenalp in Beckenried, Switzerland

At 1,600 meters high in the Swiss Alps! This just had to be my favourite of the year! I just couldn’t help but let myself be swept off my feet by the incredible, majestic and simply stunning mountains. The hills truly are alive!

2015 has been an amazing year, I can only pray and hope for another year as wonderful as this one has been.

They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for. -Tom Bodett

I hope 2016 brings each and every one of you lots of love, and plenty to hope and work for.

May you all have a wonderful year full of blessings and reasons to smile!

Over to you! Which are your favourite locations on Earth? Feel free to pass them along on the comments!

I totally agree, Switzerland is gorgeous! And I’m quite envious that you were able to visit Highclere Castle. I made a trip to London in the summer, but I didn’t have time to visit. Looks like you had a busy year! 🙂

Hello Claire!! This year was crazy, I can only hope for 2016 to be as adventurous as 2015 was! If you’re ever back in London you should look into visiting Highclere! It’s totally worth a visit. I’m happy to have found your blog, I can totally relate on the self-proclaimed ice cream expert thing hahahahaha keep it up!

The pic of Switzerland looks amazing. I always think to go in the winter for skiing, but actually summer looks like just as good a time to go. Hope you have some great travels in 2016!

Thanks Luke! Summer in Switzerland is beautiful indeed. Many people travel to the Alps in winter because of the skiing but it’s absolutely gorgeous in the summertime as well! Hope you have an adventurous 2016 as well!
